Barbara Ann Corcoran
Barbara Ann Corcoran was a businesswoman, investor and speaker from the United American. The Corcoran Group is a New York-based real estate brokerage. In 2001, the company was sold to NRT at $66 million. Corcoran left the company shortly after. Corcoran is one of ABC’s initial Shark Tank investors. To date she has appeared on each seasons of Shark Tank. In February of 2020, she had signed 53 deals. The most significant of these was a purchase of $350,000 for Coverplay at 40 percent. Corcoran was the second child of 10 children born to an Irish Catholic couple of working class in Edgewater, New Jersey. Florence, her mother, was a homemaker. Edwin W. Corcoran Jr., her father, was constantly changing jobs throughout Corcoran's entire life. Sometimes, her family depended on food delivery for free from a local, friendly grocery store. Corcoran says that her father was drunk who treated her mother with disrespectful and sarcastic remarks. Corcoran was a struggle in school, and eventually discovered that she was dyslexic. Corcoran went to an Catholic elementary school in her neighborhood and started the high school year at St. Cecilia High School, Englewood. After failing several courses in her freshman year, Corcoran transferred to Leonia High School and was a D-student when she graduated.
