Kamala Harris

 Kamala Devi Harris, born October 20 1964, is an American politician and lawyer. She is currently the 49th vice president of the United States. She is the first female vice president and is the highest ranking female politician in U.S history. She is a member and former US senator representing California. Harris was born in Oakland, California, Harris graduated from Howard University and the University of California, Hastings College of the Law. Harris began her career with the Alameda County District Attorney's Office. Then, she was recruited to the San Francisco District Attorney's Office. In 2003, she became the San Francisco district attorney. In 2010 Harris was elected Attorney General for California. She was reelected in 2014. From 2017 to 2021, Harris was the junior United States senator for California. Harris defeated Loretta Martinez in the 2016 Senate election, becoming the 2nd African American woman and first South Asian American senator to be elected to the United States Senate. Harris was a senator who advocated for healthcare and federal de-scheduling cannabis. A pathway towards citizenship for migrants who aren't legal. The DREAM Act bans assault weapons and progressive tax reform. Her sharp questioning of Trump officials in Senate hearings has garnered her national attention, including the second Supreme Court nominee, Brett Kavanaugh who was indicted with sexual assault.
